Wild Boy

Each week came and went, I felt great, maybe as good as when I wasn't pregnant. I worked, thought about the baby all the time, and looked forward to each week reading about how big the baby was and what was forming and developing inside. I have always had a fascination with the human body and how everything functions in balance and in coordination with all other parts. I loved my physiology class in college, so actually being pregnant was so fun. I went to my 16 week appointment, and everything looked great and the heartbeat was easier to find this time. I scheduled my 20 week appointment with the Dr. and the ultrasound as well.
I have a dear friend who is a nurse and happens to work in labor and delivery. She met me at the hospital one day (weeks before my 20 week appointment) and did an ultrasound to have a peek at our little sea monkey, as Ammon calls the baby. At that point I was about 14 weeks, if I remember right. We looked to see if we could tell what it was. She thought it was a little boy, but wasn't 100% for sure. So we continued to wait in anticipation of September 16, the day we would know for sure. I continued to grow and think about the baby all the time. I couldn't feel the baby yet, I just felt the waist on my pants getting tighter. My 20 week appointment came (September 14), and we were so excited! My Dr. came in and said "It’s the 20 week appointment. I’m supposed to be able to guess what you are having by the speed of the heartbeat. I’m always wrong. My ultrasonographer is always right…” and laughed. He used the Doppler to listen to the heartbeat. It didn’t take long this time to find it. It was louder and fast! He listened and said “It’s fast enough, so I’m supposed to say it’s a girl. You’re either having a girl, or a WILD boy!” That made us laugh. Our ultrasound appointment was that Thursday (September 16) at 9:00 am. The night before was filled with excitement and anticipation. As we were getting started he told us that he does ultrasounds to measure things and make sure that everything with the baby is okay, not just to find out the sex. In other words, he'll get to that part, and don't ask to find out sooner. When it got to that part Ammon shouts "I just saw a pee-pee! It's a boy isn't it!?" The ultrasonographer says "Yes it is a boy, and if it's not, you bring it back and prove it."

Yes, IT'S A BOY!!! Not a girl, but a WILD BOY!
